2025 is Here…

And Whew, Chile.

Hey, y’all. Glad you made it over the hump into ’25. Anybody else longing for “precendented times” like me? It seems there’s something wild happening every day…I miss the regular degular something fierce.

I’ll start out with a few life updates. I went back to school last spring, and this May, I’ll be graduating with my BA in English Language and Literature. That 21 year hiatus, 15 years of which I’ve been in publishing, did nothing to dissuade my inner nerd, and I’ve taken to school like a duck to water. After I graduate, it’s off to grad school, because ya girl wants to be a professor. I’ve done a decent amount of mentoring, lecturing, workshopping to help the girlies like me who are coming up in the publishing game; I feel I can more effectively spot, encourage, and cultivate talented writers from within academia. Impact, y’all. It’s all about impact. As my mentor, Beverly Jenkins, told me, “Kids can’t be what they can’t see.”

So I’m a student, I work on campus tutoring in the Writing Center, and for those of you that have been on this ride with me for a while, prepare to feel your age. Scooter turned 18 in August of last year (that’s right, our baby boy is an adult…legally speaking) and Sweet Pea is 14! Where did the time go? Your guess is as good as mine, honey.

Mr. Alexander and I parted ways amicably way back during the panini (2020). We are still good friends, no beef there. I’m in a relationship for just shy of a year with the woman of my dreams and I am very much happy and cherished. If you’ve been on my social media, especially the clock app, you already know the vibes. I’ve only published romance of the lesbian variety since 2022 and it’s staying that way. (P.S., I won an award for my book CAN’T LET HER GO last year!)

I’ve known my readers to be a gracious, fun-loving, and generally delightful group of people, and I expect that to continue; meaning I won’t tolerate negative or hateful remarks. Keep it positive or keep it pushin’, fam. I’ll be publishing more lesbian romance stories as well as historical fiction, so look out for what’s coming next.

A CUT ABOVE: The Williamses Integrate D.C.’s Ledroit Park- March 17, 2025

If you read CAROLINA BUILT, you’ll remember Josephine Leary’s younger brother, Octavius. He and his wife Missy became the very first Black residents of Ledroit Park in 1893, paving the way for some of the best and brightest of early 20th century African Americans like Paul Laurence Dunbar and Dr. Anna Julia Haywood Cooper. (Octavius was also an official US Capitol barber.) This book will publish on Octavius and Missy’s 145th wedding anniversary. Pre-order link will be in my next post! If you’re new, subcribe so you won’t miss any updates.

I plan to publish between 3 and 6 more books this year, and I have quite a few speaking engagements/conferences/signings on the schedule as well, and will also be launching a podcast, so keep an eye out for further updates!

Let me say how much I truly appreciate those of you who’ve read this far, and who’ve been rocking with me for all these years! And for you newbies, I appreciate you as well! Every reader matters to me, and I’m honored that you took time to read my work. I’m wishing you the most abundant, peaceful and amazing 2025.
